Rincones de España Project Angel Romero made his debut with the LA Philharmonic at the age of 16 performing Joaquin Rodrigo’s famed Aranjuez Concerto. He grew up under the tutelage of the great composer, and together they co-wrote the concerto Rincones de España, which Romero orchestrated. More than celebrating the dances of Spain’s different regions, the piece is a true labor of love and the composers’ combined tributes to each other. Rodrigo’s dedication of the themes reads: “Through my artistic life I have collected a few popular themes from my country. I have given them to Angel Romero and he has proceeded to put pen to paper in the way that only an artist of his great caliber can do.” Romero in turn writes, “This concerto I hold very dear to my heart since it fuses all the times in my youth and young adulthood that I was fortunate, both as a musician and a human being, to have spent so many intimate times with Joaquin Rodrigo.
