Attending LAUNCH Fest was one of the best spontaneous decisions ever. My friend and I left Los Angeles on a Monday night, took a dodgy midnight Greyhound bus to San Francisco, and arrived at 7 am. We then proceeded to walk 30 minutes to the venue and were among the first to arrive. But once were inside, I could definitely feel the excitement and enthusiasm around. There were so many showcases of interested emerging technologies like virtual reality, drones, and robots. It was insane.
The panels were equally as impressive, with Paul Graham of YC, Josh Stein of DFJ, and many others. We witnessed a 3D printed artificial heart and even a drone onstage that flew out into the audience. The atmosphere was intense - SF definitely has a different vibe than LA. It's a big more serious, intense, but cooler and edgier. I remember listening to the panels and being amazed at how smart everyone was. And that's exactly how I like it. I love being around people who are much smarter than me. I will definitely be returning each year!
