In late 2014, we went through a major change in our company. As some might know, our company was formerly ReVolt, which was creating a dirt battery to charge cell phones in Africa. After a few months of hard work, we realized that we could make a much larger impact in the cookstoves market. With the cellphones industry, we would require much more development.
During this large shift, the strength of our team and company was tested. Whenever we encounter problems, I always suggest going back to our core mission and vision. The deciding question became, "do we want to help communities" or "do we want to build a dirt battery company?" As you can tell, the first question was much more compelling to us and we decided to switch to a strategy that allowed us to make the most impact and help those who need it the most.
We found that our product (which costs only $0.50 to make) could substantially reduce cooking time and increase energy efficiency, resulting in a virtually smokeless stove. The market value / impact created is much larger in the cookstoves market and our product is literally ready to be sold on shelves. There's no other alternative in the cookstoves industry as cheap and effective as ours and it feels like a huge breakthrough. Additionally, this product can be developed for the aviation industry and has huge potential in terms of licensing the technology for other applications. We're so excited to begin another part of our journey and have you with us along the way!
