here is something truly beautiful about being human: that we are all SO different. We all have different noses, eye colors, skin and hair combinations, shoulder widths, leg lengths, and body shapes.
These differences between us should make us proud because we are all unique in our own ways!
But instead, the opposite effect happens. We feel insecurities. We see others and are instantly captivated by what makes them beautiful but forget to take a look at ourselves to really cherish what makes us so special and beautiful, too.
Finding confidence in your self and in your body doesn’t always come so easily, but when we begin to understand how to dress our bodies, we can change all that. What we love about us must be accentuated and what we don’t love about our bodies should be distracted from. It’s all about tricking the eyes to look exactly where you want them too look. And by understanding how to do that you can effectively change your perspective on yourself!
So here is an exercise, and over time we will start to address this issue more in depth.
What is your favorite body part? What is your least favorite body part? What do you wish you could change in regards to your body? What are 3 things about yourself that you would never want to change?
Now that you have all those written out, see if you can find some ways to accentuate or distract from those areas. In this new blog series, I’ll be showing you why a full skirt is your best friend and how to not look like a ruler , and how to create a waist so that all of these lovely, unique shapes can be comfortable and confident in their own skin through the use of style techniques. (MINI CHALLENGE: Can you guess to which shape each of these topics would be aimed?)
It’s all about style strategy and of course you know where to find me if you want specialized and individualized expertise on your loves and not-so-loves. Understanding what you love and what you don’t love so much about your own body is the first step to learning how to work with what you’ve got.
Remember the key is to give you that confident feeling before you walk out the door and tackle your day. So what is going to give that to you?? Marinate on that for now.
